California Bound

 

 

So tomorrow morning my mom and I are headed to Palm Springs, California for five days at this amazing resort. I am so excited about laying by the pool and relaxing. They have an incredible spa that I just might have to try out. I will post lots of fun pictures when we get back on Sunday!

I passed...

I had my monthly checkup today and they did my glucose test... I Passed. I am so excited that I do not have to spend the morning up there! There was a girl that came in right after me who had failed her test and was back to spend three hours getting blood work done every hour. I am so glad that is not me since she looked miserable! Wow! What a great feeling.
We have a very exciting weekend and week planned!! Jason is coming in from business meetings in Nashville this afternoon and then we are headed to Jackson! We have a baby shower for a good friend of ours on Saturday where the guys are going to play golf while the girls play baby, then I get to hang out with my mom.
On Wednesday morning it is off to California with my mom!! I can't wait!!

What an awesome weekend. My mom came in town this weekend and we got things set up in the nursery. We are not finished but we have a good start. (pictures to come soon)We are still waiting on the crib to come in and MK is painting some canvases. I cannot wait to see her work. She is so talented!! After setting up the nursery, my mom and I did a lot of sewing.
I am not very good at following directions. If I get to something that I do not understand, I just skip that step. That is probably why I am not a very good cook. I have a hard time following recipes since I just combine everything all at once. Well, the same went with sewing. After my mom took a look at the pattern and my little project, she helped me fix a couple of things that made it finish out really nicely. It looks so much better. We also made a romper together and some mini blankets with the ribbon (i think they are called binkies) and a really cute bib. We had so much fun and it was so sad to see her go this afteroon. I always have a great time hanging out with my mom since she is my best friend! We have lots of fun sewing adventures to come! If you ever need a cute baby gift, go to her blog. Happy Father's Day

I hope all the Dads out there have a great day!

 

Jason is so blessed to have a great dad! He has been an incredible dad to me ever since we met. He brought us our nursery furniture this weekend from Jackson so it was so great to see him and spend the weekend! We love you Mr. Mike.

 

Although my dad lives in Virginia Beach he tries really hard to stay in touch. I only get to see him a couple of times each year but we always have a good time! Happy Father's Day!!

Project Complete

I have been working on a project for Claire. It was pretty easy but I have some things to work on. What a cute finished project! It isn't perfect but not a bad start to my sewing. Have a great weekend!

 

 

Sewing Project #2

Sewing Class has been a lot of fun! On Tuesday night, we learned how to make a placemat purse in class. So on Wednesday night Martha and I decided to see if we could do it all by ourselves. Here are our adorable purses. Since I had materials left, I made my mom a bag. Wow! That is a change! She is always making things for me, so I was so excited to make something for her.

They turned out a lot cuter than I thought they would!

 

I am getting a little creative with all this sewing stuff and am actually working on a project for Claire. The first part is complete and I was really impressed with myself. I will post a picture when it is all finished. I am enjoying my little projects so much! I cannot believe I never let my mom teach me how to do all these fun things. I think I was a little too impatient. Since she is coming in town tomorrow, we will have to sew together for a fun weekend.

My First Sewing Experience

I had my first sewing class Tuesday night and it was a lot of fun. My sweet friend, Martha is staying with Jason and I for the month of June while she completes one of her clinicals for pharmacy school and I convinced her to take the classes with me. I also convinced my dear friend, Kelly and when we got to the class I saw two girls that I knew from State that had just moved to Mobile with their husbands. How much fun!
We learned to make drawstring bags for a community shelter in town. We had so much fun that Martha and I decided to try and make some the next night. We were off to get supplies.
I think they turned out really cute as I tried to make different sizes. What do you think?

 

 

Baby Shower

The hardest part about moving to Mobile was leaving my Oakdale family. Teaching at Oakdale Elementary was such a blessing. We had supper club, played bunko, and started a tennis league. Some of my best friends are teachers from Oakdale. These wonderful friends threw me a baby shower this afternoon and it was perfect. I didn't have to do anything except show up.

This cake was too cute to eat. We eventually cut into it, and it tasted just a good as it looked.

Now that I am starting to suffer from insomnia (I wake up at 3:30 every morning and cannot go back to sleep), I decided to drive to Jackson when the sun came up around 5:30. It was a very easy drive as not many people were up and on the road that early in the morning. I left Jason in Oxford so he could watch the game this afternoon. If Ole Miss wins, which it is looking very good since as I type this the score is 18-8, Ole Miss will head to the Super Regional in Arizona.
It has been a great day! I got to see lots of old friends and I have gotten to spend the day with my mom! Always a great time!

Oh How I Love Some Baseball

 

Wow! We had a busy weekend! Jason and I headed to Oxford (about a 5 hour drive) on Friday to watch the Rebels play in the Oxford Regional. We stayed with our good friends Cory and Pam and their son John Pitner who is a little over a year old. We had a great time watching the baseball games and hanging out on the square.

I love little kids around a year old. John Pitner has the best personality and he makes me so excited and anxious for Claire's arrival. Jason and I had so much fun hanging out with JP in the back seat on our way to eat. We had a great weekend!

I know this is hard to read! I still love State but when you have a die-hard Ole Miss Alumni baseball player husband, you have to follow along! This is serious stuff!!

 

As you can see, we have some pretty good seats on the first row behind home plate. It makes for a great baseball game!
